About Sarah Elliot
I’m Sarah, a Head of Classics in a girls’ independent school in North London. I learnt Latin at a grammar school in the Wirral in the 90s and went on to study for a Classics degree at Cambridge in the early 2000s. I subsequently completed a PGCE at King’s College London in 2006.
I’ve been working in girls’ independent schools ever since, teaching Classical Civilisation, Latin and Classical Greek as well as some PSHE. I really enjoy working on the craft of teaching and recently completed a Master’s in Teaching at the Institute of Education, a course that I thoroughly recommend to those wanting to keep learning while teaching and become a better teacher.
This term I’m part of the Inner Drive Cognitive Science network, learning more about how evidence from cognitive science can benefit teachers and learners. This website represents my views and experiences teaching Classics over two decades.
